A Bit of Horror for Your October

Tags :

Some of you have been with me for a long time, and others are new recruits. Some of you know I dabble in horror and other’s do not.

Since Halloween is a week away, I thought I would introduce (or reintroduce) you all to my horror short stories.

Three of my horror stories are in anthologies. These anthologies are organized and put out by the Utah Horror Writers. Each year they give a theme, and then writers have to incorporate that theme into a short story or a poem. Here are the three that I am featured in.

It Came From the Great Salt Lake

My story in this anthology is about a couple of questionable characters trying to keep what’s lurking in the lake under the salty waters.

Apocalypse Utah

My story in this anthology takes place in Park City, where people have become monsters, and the no one knows which is which.

The Hunger

Anyone wonder what it’s like a vampire’s next meal?

I wrote this flash fiction story (less than 1,000 words) when I was in kind of a bad mood. It shows.

I have another flash fiction horror story that will be in an anthology that comes out later this year.

Also, all of my Flash Fiction Friday stories are horror this month. Not to mention there are about ten more if you go through the archives. Some of them are really good! Sometimes I give myself the chills.

What are some of your favorite horror stories?

The Hunger

Tags :

I didn’t started out with the end goal of writing horror. Okay, so the first story I really imagined was a fan fiction of Aliens. Maybe that’s where this comes from.  Regardless, this is the third time that I’ve been accepted into the yearly Collection of Utah Horror sponsored by Utah Horror Writers Association.

Yay!

The theme was “The Hunger.”

Yes, the cover is terrifying.

They say some only hunger for food, while others only hunger for love. But have they ever encountered a different kind of hunger: the insatiable, unstoppable appetite for fear?

Feast upon 24 never-before-published stories and poems fresh from the darkest minds in Utah’s horror writing community. Sample the succulent flavors of dread and despair in these terrifying tales of ravenous zombies, piggish parasites, cannibalistic neighbors, and so much more.

When we crave the unnatural, there is no loyalty. There are no rules. There is only… THE HUNGER.

Not for the faint of heart, The Hunger: A Collection of Utah Horror is sure to satisfy your craving for something that will keep you up at night. Devour it… before it devours you.

It hits the fan on April 10th.
