I Did a Thing!

I like making crafts, but I only do so within the safety of a list of supplies and easy-to-follow directions.

Last year, after I inherited my mother’s family Bible, I decided I wanted to try to restore it myself. I got one quote, and the price tag was well above my budget, and I figured it’s always good to learn new skills, right?

Well, stupid Covid19 messed up all of the classes I wanted to take. Instead of a bunch of book binding classes, I ended up learning how to make a clam shell box for a book or set of books.

(Fingers crossed that things will be back to normal next year)

Basically it’s a nice way to store old, valuable, or delicate books.

The class was via Zoom, so I was at my kitchen table the whole time. I have to admit that was kind of nice.

This was our final product! There would normally be a book inside, but we did this to predetermined dimensions that made the supplies easy to ship.

This one is actually too tight to close and get open again. Let’s see if I can avoid that this next time.

Stay tuned over the next few weeks as I attempt to make one of these for my Fairy Tale Academy series.

I’m off to buy what I need today! It might be amazing, and it might be an epic disaster. Come back next week to find out!
